Other ways we work with you

Prefer a different schedule?

Quarterly and annual bookkeeping are available at 75% of our monthly rate — ideal for keeping your books clean and tax-ready without monthly reports. Cancel anytime.

Behind, messy, or just starting out?

Need a Catch-Up, Clean-Up, or Start-Up first? Those are one-time projects, quoted separately based on how far behind — or how new — your books are.

Both are priced individually — ask about it on your free call.

How We Start

From first call to closed books.

Free Discovery Call

We talk through your business and what "clean books" needs to look like for you.

Assessment

We review your current records or software to scope the work and recommend a plan.

Onboarding

Already on QuickBooks Online or Xero? We get connected and go. Not set up yet? We'll get you started in one of them first — those are the only two platforms we work in. We'll also set up view-only bank access and a shared folder for receipts, so nothing falls through the cracks.

Ongoing Care

Reconciliation, filings, and financials land on the same schedule every month.

Two things that keep your books moving

Bank access — your choice

Prefer to give us secure, view-only access to your bank and credit card accounts? We can pull statements and reconcile directly, with no ability to move money or make changes. Prefer not to? Just send your monthly statements through our shared folder (Google Drive, Hubdoc, or Dext) along with that month's receipts and invoices — either way works.

One shared folder for receipts & invoices

We'll set up a shared spot for your receipts and invoices — Google Drive, Dext, or Hubdoc, depending on what fits best. Drop documents in as you go, and we'll match them to your transactions — no more monthly "what was this for?" emails.

Both are set up during onboarding.

What To Expect

Clear timelines, every time.

You'll always know when your numbers are coming — no guessing, no chasing.

Monthly Financial Statements

Delivered within 15 business days of your bank statement becoming available (or being provided to us), as long as related documents reach us within 5 business days. Quarterly and annual plans follow a longer schedule — full details in our Terms of Service.

Tax & Payroll Filing Access

For GST/HST and payroll, we can work with CRA representative access or your business's 4-digit access code. PST is administered provincially, so we set up authorized access directly through your province's tax portal. Prefer to file those yourself? That's fine — we're just not liable for errors or late filings on submissions made directly by you.

Payroll

Paystubs issued within 3 business days of receiving all documents related to that payroll.

Sales Tax Filing

Filed at least 2 weeks ahead of each deadline, whether your filing is monthly, quarterly, or annually.

Response Time

We respond to all client questions and messages within 24 business hours.

Catch-Up, Clean-Up & Start-Up Projects

Timelines are set individually, based on what we cover during your consultation call.

Not in a hurry? Clients who are comfortable receiving their monthly statements 2 weeks later than the standard turnaround qualify for a 10% discount on their monthly plan.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Do I need to already be using QuickBooks Online or Xero?

We work exclusively in QuickBooks Online and Xero. If you're currently on a different platform, we'll ask you to switch to one of these before we can take you on as a client.

What happens if a deadline is missed because of late or missing information?

If documents, approvals, or information aren't provided in time, it can push back other deadlines — such as sales tax filings and payroll. ABN Bookkeeping isn't liable for penalties, interest, or delays that result from information received after the required cutoff.

Do you need access to my bank accounts?

Not necessarily. You're welcome to give us secure, view-only access if you'd prefer — we can then pull statements and reconcile directly. If not, you can instead send your monthly bank statements through our shared folder (Google Drive, Hubdoc, or Dext) along with that month's receipts and invoices.

How does billing work?

Invoices are sent on the 24th of each month for the following month's work, with payment due on the 1st. Work begins once payment is received. Full details are in our Terms of Service.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes — whether you're on our monthly, quarterly, or annual plan, none of them require a long-term contract. Just provide written notice at least 5 business days before your next scheduled invoice date to stop billing; cancellations received after that point apply to the following cycle, and the current invoice remains due.

How do you file my GST/HST, PST, and payroll?

For GST/HST and payroll (including source deductions and T4s), we can work through CRA representative access or your business's 4-digit access code. Since PST is administered provincially rather than federally, we instead set up authorized third-party access directly through your province's tax portal (for example, SETS — Saskatchewan eTax Services — for Saskatchewan-based clients), using details you provide such as your PST account number and access code, or a completed authorization form. If you'd rather file any of these yourself, that's fine too — we're just not liable for errors or late filings on submissions made directly by you.

How do I pay my invoice?

We accept Interac e-Transfer, pre-authorized debit (PAD), and credit card (Visa, Mastercard, or American Express) — the method used is agreed during onboarding. A $30 fee applies if a PAD payment fails to be collected, and a 2.4% transaction fee applies to credit card payments. Please let us know promptly if your payment details ever change, to avoid late payments or failed withdrawals. Full details are in our Terms of Service.
